Art Deco Bajazzo Porcelain Figurine Lamp – 1917 – 1920s Designed by Karl HIMMELSTOSS
Designed for the Rosenthal Company
Art Deco Bajazzo (Clown) porcelain figurine – Bajazzo was a character from the Commedia dell’arte.
Karl Himmelstoss was a German sculptor.
Measures – 26.5 ” Tall
14″ Tall – Figurine
Base – 8″ x 6″ x 6″
Karl Himmelstoss 12/1872 Poland – 3/1967 Germany
The figurine can be removed from the lamp base – there is a 1/8″ metal base that holds the figurine in position.
I have not removed the figurine, but I imagine that it is signed on the bottom.
No chips or cracks – Figurine and lamp are in VERY GOOD pre-loved and admired condition.
There is one line approximately 1 ” on the left bottom of the cape opposite the back leg – it is not a crack, maybe a ink mark – not sure. The top brim of the hat has thin dark area . the orange glaze might have worn off here.
The metal lamp base is in good vintage condition.
The lamp cord is flexible and not dry.
Regular size light bulbs fit and both sockets work.
