Family’s Verbal Provenance tells that this chest came from an Episcopal Church in Pennsylvania. The family moved from Philadelphia to the Atlanta area in the early 1930’s and brought with them three pieces from this collection.

Verbal Provenance says the Chest, Gothic Chair, and Gothic Bench all came from the Divinity schools office. The Divinity School began in 1858.

This chest seems to be made of oak and is beautifully carved. There are Roman Numerals carved on the outside – A MDCDVI. Inside the chest are the carved initials HLH. It is not known who this chest originally belonged to.
